When all I wanted was to get rich to pay the bills,

9/11 and How It Affected Me.

10 years ago. I just finished UPSR.

I got off the dial-up internet after replying one of my email-pals.

I turn, look at the TV3 Nightline.

Aeroplane, flying into a building, like a movie.

It was surreal, my eyes blink hard, I was stunned.

What would it ever affect a 12 year old boy?

It did. I was that 12 years old boy, watching the news, that United States of America has been attacked.

Too many questions that seems too hard for me to answer. I asked why would someone fly a plane into a building.

I became insecure, I was afraid of tall buildings.

I was scared of planes, that it might fly into buildings.

I asked myself could this be an accident?

Could this be the work of someone?

Could this be just a dream and I should wake up.

9/11 didn't make me lose anyone, nor affect me directly.

But it changed my world from a kid, till now.

I became paranoid as my world has changed.

Everyone is afraid.

Even me, the 12 years old boy.

10 years on I see a different view.

How the world is now no longer a safe place.

More people have died, sacrificed.

Terrorism and bombing is becoming a norm.

What have 9/11 done?

9/11 has thought me that we all need love.

We need to least love one another.

and till the world's over, that image of that airplane hitting WTC that midnight, will stay in my mind forever.

note : Time zone differences hence I saw the news at midnight.
